1 Day, 1 Dance, 1000 Dancers
ANNOUNCEMENT! NEW TRAINING DATE MONDAY 23 MARCH 2020 POSTPONED COVID 19 (more details will be advised shortly)
The Dance Network Association is pleased to announce that we will be delivering our ‘en masse’ creative dance and performance programme 1 Day 1 Dance 1000 Dancers for 2020!
We invite your school or community group to join us at the:
Jim Peters Stadium 10 June 2020
Essex Cricket Ground 15 June 2020
Great Notley Country Park 17 June 2020
This year's named programme 'Let's Go Tokyo!’ in the lead up to the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in Japan. If you are a Barking and Dagenham based school we will have a special event for you at the Jim Peters Stadium to open the Quadkids Games.
The project offers groups of all ages and walks of life a creative dance experience that they would not usually access within a school or community setting. Additionally, it has been designed to offer both teachers, artists and dancers the opportunity to build their confidence in the delivery of dance and performance. Furthermore, raising their skills, knowledge and increasing general physical health and wellbeing.
The aim of the programme is to get 1000 dancers, performing all the same dance ‘en masse’ to large audiences. Most importantly celebrating the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games opening and closing ceremonies.
The Dance Network Association is proud to be working with Essex Based Co-Creators Lucy Blazheva and Sam Blayney as well as partners at Essex Music Education Hub (Peter Lovell) and University Centre Colchester (Phil Toms) to support us with our soundtrack which will be specifically created for the programme. On our online tutorial you will see dancers from Year 2 Level 3 Dance BTEC at Colchester Institute filmed by the Digital Media and Film degree students from the University Centre Colchester supported by Julien Mery.
Let's Go, TOKYO! has been generously funded by Arts Council England, The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and Active Essex; Essex County Council.
“Really lovely teaching and easily learnt” one of the teachers on the teacher training day
We encourage education and community groups of all ages to participate in what will be a memorable dance event at high profile venues. You may also wish to buy our resources and create your own events at school or in the community? Such as at a PE sports day as the opening ceremony, or creating a local flash mob in your town - the possibilities are endless.
