Hayley is a local Essex based artist having attended the Gilberd School and the Sixth Form College in Colchester before heading off to complete her Degree and MA.
After graduating with a Distinction from her MA Dance Performance and Choreography course at The University of Bedfordshire in September 2018, Hayley has been working as a dance artist spanning a number of roles including teaching, choreographing and performing.
Most recently Hayley has been working as The Colchester Sixth Form College’s Artist in Residence. The 6-week project required Hayley to choreograph a work on 6 A-Level Dance students. The work ‘Nefelibata’ was entered into the U.Dance regional competition at DanceEast in Ipswich in March 2019. The piece was chosen to represent the East region at the national U.Dance event at The Southbank Centre in London in July 2019. As a result the college has been invited by DanceEast to perform as guest artists for this year’s regional U.Dance platform.
As well as this, Hayley has been working in a number of community and educational settings, including work in local SEN schools as part of an Arts Council, funded project. Hayley also works part-time as a Core Tutor at DanceEast, as a freelance artist for The Dance Network Association, and is returning for a second year as The Colchester Sixth Form College Artist in Residence. Hayley is also currently a part of the Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures programme for 2019/20.
As a dance artist Hayley is particularly keen on engaging young dancers from diverse backgrounds, widening access to youth dance in the East region, and encouraging more young people to think about creative careers.
Hayley delivers on various youth dance activities for the Dance Network Association her main being lead artist for our Young Professionals programme.
