Louise Klarnett is a dance artist who has developed an extensive dance and movement practice working with young babies to ninety-plus year olds since 1999. She leads projects and workshops in children’s centres, nurseries, community settings, schools, colleges, day centres, sheltered housing, hospices and hospitals. Louise has led continuing professional development training for organisations which include Trinity Laban, Barbican Guildhall, Spitalfields Music, Dance Art Foundation’s Breathing Space Dance in Health Programme, Green Candle Dance Company, Dundee Dance Partnership, Scottish Dance Theatre, dancedigital and the London Boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Hackney, Newham and Barking & Dagenham.
Louise has been the early years movement specialist for performance work which includes Fleur Darkin’s Innocence for Scottish Dance Theatre; Fergus Early’s No Fear! for Green Candle Dance Company, Musical Rumpus, Mudlark Dances an opera for 0-2 year olds for Spitalfields Music and Rosie Heafford, Second Hand Dance’s Humpty Dumpty and Grass.
Louise was dance artist in residence at Kay Rowe Children's Centre and Nursery school leading the project Dancing Communities September 2014- July 2015. She is dance artist for Barking and Dagenham’s Active Start early years programme where she wrote a toolkit for teachers. She leads regular workshops for parents/carers and under 5s in Hoxton, and leads weekly sessions in sheltered housing for older people for Dance Network Association. She has led intergenerational workshops for the V&A Museum and The Wilderness Festival. She is an Associate Artist: Participation, for Dance Art Foundation, and a member of the Knowing Body Network.
Louise graduated with BA (hons) Contemporary Dance from De Montfort University in 1998.
