Dancing with Care Brentwood
AUTUMN/XMAS SEASON
Class description
Dancing with Care is an inclusive Creative Health programme designed for people living with dementia and the family members, friends, carers and companions who support them. We recognise that a dementia diagnosis affects more than one person, which is why our sessions provide opportunities for everyone to move, create, connect and enjoy meaningful experiences together. Combining dance, music, creativity and conversation, each session encourages participants to stay physically active, stimulate the mind, build confidence and strengthen relationships in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. Activities are carefully adapted to ensure everyone can participate, regardless of ability or previous dance experience, with familiar music, gentle movement and shared creative experiences helping to spark memories, encourage communication and bring moments of joy. Sessions last 1½ hours, including a 45–60 minute guided dance and creative movement session, starting with a 30 minute relax over tea and coffee. These informal conversations provide valuable opportunities to build friendships, share experiences and access peer support, helping both participants and carers feel connected and supported within their community. Grounded in the principles of Creative Health, Dancing with Care demonstrates how dance and movement, creativity and human connection can complement healthcare, supporting people to live well with dementia while improving wellbeing, reducing isolation and creating lasting memories together.
